Everyday Shooter is the latest addition to the Steam catalogue for a first week price of $8.99 before selling at $9.99 thereafter. Everyday Shooter has won numerous awards at the Independent Games Festival including Design Innovation.

Everyday Shooter is an album of games exploring the expressive power of abstract shooters. Dissolute sounds of destruction are replaced with guitar riffs harmonizing over an all-guitar soundtrack, while modulating shapes celebrate the flowing beauty of geometry.

Valve want a Wii (Game)
Posted: 4:51am 02-05-08 By: Evo In: Steam Games

Doug Lombardi has revealed to CVG that there is a desire within Valve to make a Wii game, and there is also an interest in making an MMO RPG.

"I mean, I'm not making any announcements", he continued, "but there's a lot of desire internally to do something for kids, do something on the Wii."

Valve has also taken a shine to the MMO scene: "Gabe (Valve co-founder, Gabe Newell) is a huge fan of MMO RPGs and he's always wanted to make one," Lombardi said.
This all stems from Valve's plans to move further out of their comfort zone and try something new. However Lombardi also reveals that if anything happens, we won't see it for a few years.

The CVG interview with Lombardi should be arriving soon, but for now head here for the latest on the Wii issue.

Microsoft and Yahoo rejected Steam
Posted: 2:21am 01-05-08 By: DigiQ8 In: Steam

Valve revealed to GamesIndustry.biz that they had approached Microsoft and Yahoo to develop Steam before deciding to develop it themselves. And both of them was like 'That's a million miles in the future...We can't help you.'". Steam now serves over 300 titles and hosts over 15 million accounts.
"You know, we went around to Yahoo, Microsoft...and anybody who seemed like a likely candidate to build something like Steam," he explained.

"We basically had our feature list that we wanted. We wanted auto-updating, we wanted better anti-piracy, better anti-cheat, and selling the games over the wire was something we came up with later.

"We went around to everybody and asked 'Are you guys doing anything like this?' And everyone was like 'That's a million miles in the future...We can't help you.'"

Gold Rush Update is Now Available
Posted: 8:07pm 29-04-08 By: DigiQ8 In: Team Fortress 2

The Gold Rush update is now available for download (free), The Gold Rush Update introduces the new Gold Rush map and Payload gameplay style, the first set of unlockable weapons, and a new set of achievements for the Medic.
Gold Rush is an entirely new level featuring a new gameplay style called Payload. The level is split into three separate areas with intermediate capture zones inside of each major chapter. The teams are split between offense (Blu) and defense (Red) similar to Dustbowl. The goal for the Blu team is to push the bomb payload through the level until it reaches the next capture point, eventually destroying all three of Red's major bases. Blu pushes the cart through the level by standing near it, and the cart will move faster the more people are standing near it. If no one has pushed the cart forward after 30 seconds, the cart will begin to move backward until it is pushed forward again.
In other news, a worldwide Team Fortress 2 Free Weekend will begin Friday at noon PDT,and will include access to the new content released today in the TF2. All of the files needed to join the Free Weekend are available for pre-loading now.

Neowin.net : Team Fortress 2 Update Coming April 29th
Posted: 5:54pm 27-04-08 By: DigiQ8 In: Team Fortress 2

Neowin.net had the opportunity to visit Valve offices last Friday and play Goldrush and the Medic, They also reported that the new update will be released this Tuesday, April 29th though the console version still doesn't have a release date yet.
Goldrush is a map specifically focused on pacing, so the player feels like they are part of an overall team focus instead of being a lone wolf. Each member of the team naturally has to focus on both the overall goal of either advancing or stopping the payload, but also on the local threats, like that heavy backed up by a medic. Goldrush has been designed taking all nine classes into account, which means there is truly a place for everyone and their favorite class to be useful.
Screenshots and a detailed list of the achievements coming soon on Neowin.net.

No Portal This Year - Lombardi
Posted: 4:49am 26-04-08 By: Evo In: Portal

Portal was released last year and received great critical reviews and many gamers fell in love with the game, the Weighted Companion Cube became an overnight success, as did the game. Earlier this year it was let slip that Portal 2 was a certainty. Now Doug Lombardi has informed Eurogamer that we shouldn't expect to see any more Portal this year.

"In typical Valve tradition, it won't be Portal with different colours," said Lombardi, dressed as a companion cube. "I think that when you hit something like that, you have two choices: you can quickly replicate it and stick it out there - do the opportunistic thing and cash in on it; or you can do the crazy thing like we did after Half-Life was so successful and go off and try and say, 'Okay, that was revolutionary, so its successor has to be equally as revolutionary.'

"That's the spirit I think we're approaching it in," he added. "You won't see a new Portal at retail this Christmas because of that. That's the trade off. People want more, but we don't want to give them more of the same right away because that would just be boring."

Firearms: Source Update
Posted: 4:58am 25-04-08 By: Evo In: Mods

There is a very big update from the Firearms: Source team which is primarily showing off ps_forest which is a new map from the team. ps_forest has 100% Firearms: Source made assets. There is not a touch of Valve stuff in there.

Today's post is our official showcase of Airwolf's ps_forest. But before I get into that too much, I want to post something that I've been meaning to hit on for a few months and just keep forgetting about - and that would be the interview the current Firearms: Half-Life Team Leader did with our art lead, Shinobi, and I. Actually, it's a little more than an interview; it's an interview with a lot of extra information and a few screenshots. He took a lot of time out of his day putting this together and I'd be doing his efforts a disservice if I didn't make a link for our fans to read. Firearms: Source, Anatomy of a Mod.

Forest - Firearms Source Forest Part 2 - Firearms Source

Head on over here then for all the latest information on Firearms: Source as well as a new video of ps_forest
